Spring Open House

THIS Saturday, April 22nd from 11:00-2:00!

Cultivating Brilliance

Here, in addition to the strong academic core, your child will develop his passion in technology, science, visual and performing arts, language and physical education. He will learn at his own pace, with an educational plan tailored perfectly to him.

Nurturing curiosity, inspiring confidence and promoting the joys of learning about the world are daily occurrences at SNHMA.”
Doug H.,
Sandown, NH

We love the focus on the individual at SNHMA…there is acknowledgment that no two students are the same. We also appreciate that the curriculum is rich, diverse and fun.”

Thank you to everyone who came out with their fancy duds and dancing shoes to our Spring Fling Dance! Thank you also to everyone who donated baskets for our Basket Raffle and those who donated to the Scholarship Fund by purchasing raffle tickets. Congratulations to our winners! We had such a great time shaking tail feathers and grooving to the music. The photo booth was also a huge hit! #snhma

Staff Spotlight: Ms. Monica

Monica Leap is the elementary art teacher here at SNHMA. She comes to us from Studio 550 in Manchester, which she owns. Monica prefers to think of herself as a potter and a creator of community, who likes to use art as a way to bring people together. She has always enjoyed painting and drawing, but she discovered clay in high school and has not stopped working with it since then. Monica shared that she loves clay because it is pure potential - everyone starts with the same lump of clay but it can become anything the creator imagines. She loves teaching art at SNHMA because she gets to share foundational components of art with the children. Monica loves the opportunity to expose the children to a variety of ways of working and a variety of ideas and give them the opportunity to really immerse themselves in their work. She loves the Montessori method and being able to observe it in action. Monica was born and raised in Nashua, NH. After completing her bachelor of fine arts degree at Syracuse University, spending a year as a resident artist in mid-coast Maine, and completing her master’s degree at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, she moved back to New Hampshire to start Studio 550. Studio 550 is a Community Art Center in downtown Manchester. When she is not at Studio 550 or SNHMA, she enjoys spending time with her family. She ran her first marathon in November and she and her husband enjoy Argentine Tango dancing. Stay tuned for the next Staff Spotlight! #snhma

Our Elementary Afterschool Bicycle Club is a huge hit this spring! Friends spend the afternoon practicing their balance and skills as they pedal their way through obstacles and courses. Last week the weather was nice enough that they finally got outside! The joy of riding a bike is truly infectious. #snhma

Staff Spotlight: Mr. Daniel

Daniel Saunders is the music teacher here at SNHMA. He comes to us each Friday from Let's Play Music & Make Art in Derry. Growing up, Daniel’s parents were big music fans. They never played an instrument, but they always had music playing in the house. He became obsessed with the guitar around age 12 and was very interested in learning to play. Daniel’s parents could see that he was serious so they bought him a guitar and signed him up for lessons. He shared that that was almost 30 years ago and he hasn’t stopped since! For Daniel, teaching at SNHMA is both fun and rewarding. He enjoys seeing how enthusiastic the students are during music class. They love learning about different instruments and Daniel gets to share his musical knowledge with them. Daniel was born and raised in New Hampshire. He spent a decade in Los Angeles teaching music at a college and performing in various bands. Daniel enjoys composing music and spending time with his family. Stay tuned for the next Staff Spotlight! #snhma

Staff Spotlight: Ms. Kathleen

Kathleen McManis is the new Early Childhood intern who has joined our team as she finishes her Montessori training and practicum. She is currently enrolled in the New England Montessori Teacher Education Certification program and is expected to complete the program this summer. Kathleen is settling into the Early Childhood classrooms and we are so happy to have her here. She came to Montessori by way of an orphanage in Nepal. Kathleen had the opportunity to spend several months living in an orphanage and teaching English to the children, teachers, and staff in rural Nepal. She was struck by the level of curiosity and deep desire to learn even though these children have very little. Kathleen witnessed firsthand how children thrive in an educational environment that is supportive, nurturing, and non-competitive. As she learned more about the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, she knew that becoming a Montessori teacher was the next step in her life’s journey. Kathleen loves the Montessori method for its ability to create self-directed, self-motivated, confident children. She is the mother of four grown children. In her free time, Kathleen enjoys dancing, hiking, and riding a motorcycle through coastal Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Stay tuned for the next Staff Spotlight! #snhma
